Overview

Mitigation of vibrations, whether for floors or entire buildings, is a key factor in supporting the uptake of advanced wood building systems in construction. Our team of researchers has more than 40 years of experience in floor vibration research and development, giving us expertise in controlling vibrations in a broad range of wood-based floors. With the renewed interest in wood-based mid- and high-rise buildings, our researchers are playing a leading role in wind-induced vibrations, establishing databases related to the natural frequencies and damping ratios of wood buildings, developing code provisions and design guides, and monitoring wood building vibration responses to wind load.
