Summary

This study investigated the effects of providing vapour diffusion ports (VDPs) in the exterior sheathing on the drying performance of modern wood-frame walls during the winter months of coastal British Columbia. This practice, i.e., drilling holes in the sheathing to create VDPs, started after the “leaky condo” crisis in the Lower Mainland. The intent was to improve drying towards the exterior.
