Summary

With the cost of fuel being a major factor in the operation of off-road machines, getting the most value out of this necessary expense is in the interest of the cost-conscious machine owner. This project aims at determining the effect of tire pressure on fuel consumption in a controlled testing environment. A typical duty cycle for a forwarder involves short travel distances in varying terrain and at low speeds. For improved traction and flotation, forwarders are generally equipped with tracks with tire inflation pressure maintained at optimum pressure to insure proper fitting around the tires
